Pie Chart

For ease of reading, i have converted my previously created bar graph into a pie chart with percentages to show my audiences opinion of my music video.

Showing to target audience

Image
Yesterday, Grace and I previewed our music video to our target audience in a focus group. We gave our audience a form to full, which would then give us a overview on what areas we need to improve on. From our audience's feedback we created a bar graph, with a average of our audiences rating.

Ancillary Task 1: Magazine Advert

Image
After creating two different Magazine adverts on canva we showed a number of people and received some audience feedback. We were told that they didn't like the font of the title as it didn't really fit with the genre or aesthetics of our music video, however we also learnt from our audience feedback that the writing in the first option covered to much our the image and in particular the artists face. Subsequently, we used the good aspects of both and combined them creating a magazine advert out target audience liked. This will help us create a synergy with our website as we will use similar font and colours.

Magazine advert options

Grace and I created 2 different magazine adverts as part of our ancillary task. We used the online website 'canva'. This website was really useful as it allowed us to choose from a range of different templates, which we could then edit and adapt to create something in keeping with out music video. We created two to give us options and a larger range of choice. However after receiving audience feed back we were told one was too plain and simple and the other ones writing almost ruined the image. Therefore we will try and create another with similar ideas however also take on board our audience feedback.

Website Inspiration

Having looked at multiple websites including Rihanna's, Beyonce, Ariana Grande and Bruno Mars' it has given me a much better insight into the type of website I need to create. The key elements which I think are crucial when creating a website are: Interaction with the audience  Photos and images of the artist, acting as promotion Songs- list containing all songs & the songs them-self Short promotional videos  Merchandise- page dedicated to products the artist is selling

Typical Sypnosis

Recently I have watched multiple music videos to give me inspiration for my own music video. There are particular shots and mise en scene I would like to try and replicate. From Rihanna's music video 'What Now',  there are multiple overlaying shots which I found particularly effective and would therefore like to use. There are also parts of the mise en scene I liked. This included the simple and colours of the costume Rihanna wears. They are not bright or bold however reflect the tone of the song. There are many aspects of Beyonce's music video 'Halo' that I really liked. This included the colour grading of the video which effectively reflected the lyrics and tone of the song.  Another aspect I liked was the the water scene. When looking at Beyonce's music videos she nearly always incorporates a scene in water and I especially found this effective. In the scene she is wearing a white dress which is made use of with the slow motion.  I espec...

Magazine Advert Research

Image
Typically, music artists like to use magazine adverts to promote their new music album or their tour. As well as creating a website, Lauren and I would like to create a magazine advert for our performers album and decided to do some research to help us. Beyonces magazine advert is of course, visually attractive and appealing however as a result of the dull colours., the advert fails to grab the audiences attention. Although this is not a magazine advert but for a tour, Rita Ora's advert is definitely one of our favourites. This is due to the bold, bright colours and sizing of the font which immediately grabbed our attention. Rita Ora is the focal point, placed in the middle of the advert which makes sure that it is known it is her tour. The MTV logo is placed at the top of the screen so that the target audience knows who her record label and can easily identify her genre of music.  Taylor Swifts album advert was not particularly eye-catching. Although it uses t...

Audience Expectations

Image
Grace and I recently interviewed 5 members of our target audience, to give us a better understanding of what they would expect from a music video of the pop genre. The information we received was very useful, as we gained a better insight of our target audiences expectations. Some of the people we interviewed had contrasting views on what they would like to see, including the colour grading we would use. Many wanted to see monotone shades of black and white to mirror the singers feelings and lyrics, whilst others wanted to see bright colours to make the video more visually appealing. Despite this we will take both ideas into consideration when making our music video. We found when interviewing our target audience, all of them wanted to see an element of dance to reflect the ideas presented in the lyrics. We will therefore defiantly incorporate this into our final music video.
