Knole House - Orlando

Last Week, we went on a trip to Knole House in Kent. The day was based on Virginia Woolfs novel - 'Orlando' who changes sex in different time frames (centuries). When we first arrived, we were taken on a tour of Vita Sackville-West's house in the style of a performance. Each room of the house we entered represented a different time zone and that time zones' view on gender identity. During the afternoon we completed a workshop in which we learnt the definition of binary opposition. Following this we watched a film of the novel - Orlando in which gender was clearly represented throughout.
