Preliminary Task

For our preliminary task, Lauren and I decided to re-create the music video 'four, five seconds', by Rihanna, Paul McCartney and Kanye West. Our aim was to try and replicate the exact shot from the real music video. Although it did not turn out exactly the same, we are still pleased with our final result as we did learn a lot from doing this, which will help us with our final music video. In terms of pre-production, we spent a long time researching popular music music videos in the 'pop' genre. We used Youtube to look at a variety of music videos including: Budapest, Alesha Dixon and Four, Five, Seconds. We decided on 'Four, Five, Seconds' as it had shots and editing techniques we wanted to try and use i.e. colour grading and silhouette effect. Using a online website we created a detailed storyboard of the first minute of 'Four, Five Seconds' which included pictures of each shot we wanted to replicate and how long they will be shown for. Lip Syncing Practice

Before we did both our preliminary task and real thing, we decided to practice our lip syncing on final cut, so we had experience using it when it comes to creating our real music video. We used the song 'Love story', by Taylor swift as we thought it was quite a popular song and also easy to learn.

Experimenting with a Silhouette

Grace and I are trying to re-create the first minute from 'four, five seconds' for our preliminary task. It begins using a silhouette of Rihanna singing. We thought before we did our preliminary task we should try and learn how to create the same effect. Although it didn't look the same, we still liked the outcome and would therefore like to use it still.
